Hard drive motor driver board

Overview

This is a driver board used to drive the hard drive motor. The driver solution uses TI's DRV11873 chip, and the current can reach 1.5A.

Jumper and port functions: FOUT : speed frequency output, speed (r/min) = FOUT/3;

F/S : Low speed/high speed mode selection, short circuit (grounded) is low speed mode and vice versa is high speed mode.

F/R : Direction selection, short circuit (grounding) means reverse rotation, otherwise it means forward rotation.

PWM is the duty cycle signal output by 555, which is used for motor speed regulation. If not connected, it defaults to the highest speed.

The CURRENT potentiometer can adjust the drive current of the chip, and the SPEED can adjust the duty cycle of the 555 output, that is, speed regulation.

Another way to adjust the speed is to add voltage, up to 16V. The higher the voltage, the faster the speed.

Things to pay attention to when welding and debugging: 1. Be sure to buy genuine chips, otherwise it will be easy to burn.

2. The motor must stop naturally after power failure. The sudden stop of reverse electromotive force will burn the chip.

3. Pay attention to the temperature when welding, and weld a large pad at the bottom to facilitate heat dissipation.
