Everyone, I have been an electronic engineer for more than ten years. I am not very successful. Looking around, I don’t see many people who are very successful! Looking back on my career as an engineer, I am filled with emotion. I would like to say a few words from the bottom of my heart. It is also a reminder to my juniors. I hope they can be better than us! [1] Plan your own path well, don’t just follow your feelings! According to personal ideal decision-making arrangements, most people do not expect to become academicians or professors, but hope to live a more comfortable and enjoyable life. Therefore, you need to carefully plan your own path. Start with an industry and gradually gain a deeper understanding of the industry. Don’t change jobs frequently, especially don’t change positions for a little salary. In the long run, this little money is nothing. When you have a few years of experience in an industry, money will not be a problem in the future. Frequent changes are not the best strategy. In the end, you will not understand any industry thoroughly and will always be a novice! [2] You can do technology, but you must not indulge in technology. Don’t focus on studying technology! Putting too much pressure on yourself, if you put all your mind on this, then you are destined to become a person like Kong Yiji! Know when to stop, because technology is only one of the pillars of your future, and it is not the biggest pillar, unless you only want to be an engineer until you are old! [3] Don't be a technical expert, just be an expert in comprehensive quality! In the enterprise, we often look down on someone, saying that "he knows nothing, why do he get so much money, why do he get promoted!" This is a common and typical pedantic statement of engineers. Is 8051 great? He must have his ability to get promoted, and it is an ability that you don't have. Think about it, the boss has been in business for so many years, is he not as knowledgeable as you, a rookie? He may be good at management, good at understanding the boss's intentions, good at department coordination, etc. Therefore, you must cultivate your own abilities in many aspects, including management, affinity, ability to read people's minds, ability to solve problems, etc. To become an expert in comprehensive quality, you will have a bright future, otherwise you can only hide in the corner and watch the oscilloscope! Skills other than technology are more important! ! From ancient times to the present, the United States and Japan are all like this! [4] Make friends with people from all walks of life! Don't just associate with engineers, thinking that you have a common language. In fact, it is more important to associate with other types of people. If you hope to be a boss or a senior manager one day, then you will face these people all day long. Understand their experiences, thinking habits, hobbies, learn their way of dealing with problems, and understand the phenomena and problems in every corner of society. This is a huge asset for future development. Without these, you will be clumsy and stumble in the future, encounter many difficulties, pay a lot of tuition fees, and greatly reduce the probability of success! [5] Knowledge does not necessarily have to be specialized, but it must be broad! Read more books on other fields, such as finance, accounting, import and export, taxation, law, etc., to accumulate some knowledge for the future, which will be more useful in the future! You will pay less tuition fees! ! [6] Seize the opportunity to change to technical management or market sales! If you want to have a future, you can't just do development all the time. When the time is right, you should change to management or sales. You will have a better future. The previous technical work has not been in vain, and it will be useful in the future. Management can help you develop your leadership skills, while sales can help you develop your market concepts and thinking. At the same time, you can also accumulate a huge network of contacts for your future development! This is the real pillar of your future! [7] Gradually overcome your psychological weaknesses and character flaws! Suspicion, sensitivity, naivety (derogatory, not cute), indecision, timidity, worrying, thin-skinned, not dark enough, dogmatic thinking... These common character weaknesses of engineers must be changed! Is it difficult? It is impossible to just think about it in bed. Go and help your friend run a street stall for a month. It will definitely work. Practice, don't just think about it! Without overcoming these shortcomings, everything is impossible. You can't even be a good project manager - even though you may have good skills! [8] While working, prepare for the future! Establish your own work environment! Set up a work environment for yourself as early as possible, equipped with a computer, an oscilloscope (you can buy a second-hand one), an emulator, a programmer, etc. You can do some work in your spare time to get in touch with the market.
Now I always have an urge to learn all relevant knowledge. The desire to learn is very strong and I really want to learn new knowledge, but sometimes I can't calm down. I worry that the gain will not outweigh the loss over time and I won't be able to learn anything well. I wonder if anyone is in the same situation as me?
