A 100kΩ potentiometer R4 regulates the current feed to the solid tone generator. Adjust the potentiometer to the point where the speaker can produce sound. A single-transistor audio amplifier Q1 is coupled to the positive terminal of the speaker, and the output of Q1 is supplied to a voltage doubler circuit. The DC output of the voltage doubler drives the base of Q2.
