The demonstration board works as a bridge
between a standard USB port and a classical
serial COM port
The standard CDC class of USB is
implemented and emulates COM port
functionality to a standard USB port
The demonstration board implements RS232
full hardware flow control using RTS and CTS
The STM32 medium density line device
performs the communication task (bridge)
between the USB and RS232 (UART)
A standard DB9 connector (female) is used for
RS232 and therefore the user can directly
connect this demonstration board to the PC
The unit is bus-powered (this means it takes
power from the USB bus)

Description
The STEVAL-PCC015V1 demonstration board is
an easy and compact solution in order to make a
bridge between a standard USB port and a
standard serial COM port. In modern PCs, USB is
the standard communication port for almost all
peripherals. However many industrial software
applications and old equipment still use the
classic COM port (UART).
The STEVAL-PCC015V1 demonstration board
provides a simple solution to overcome this
problem.
