RG58/U ThinNet Coaxial Cables - Most Reliable Double Shielded for Ethernet Networking
ThinNet Coaxial, Thin Wire Ethernet, 10BASE-2 or CheaperNet are all names for the RG58 type of coaxial
transmission media. The speed of Ethernet is 10Mbps regardless of your cable of choice. The difference in
performance between thick and thin Ethernet relate only to distance. So if you have 30 or fewer users on your
segment and your length requirement does not exceed 185m (607 ft) make ThinNet the cable of your choice.
L-com offers a family of ready made Thin Ethernet coaxial cable assemblies with molded BNC terminations,
and fully insulated covers to guarantee against ground loop problems. This improved cable is Double Shielded
to meet the rigid coaxial cable electrical parameters defined in section 10.5 of the IEEE 802.3 specification.

RG58/U 50 Ohm Thin Ethernet Plenum - With Two In-Line BNC Plugs
Plenum grade RG58/U is available for high temperature environments where PVC is not acceptable. Assemblies
have FEP Teflon dielectric and flame retardant jacket. The center conductor is a 20 AWG solid conductor giving
these assemblies very limited flexibility. All cables terminated with Teflon grade BNC connectors.

What is the difference between a plug and a jack?
People commonly have problems picking the correct gender termination on cable
assemblies.Plugs are considered male gendered connectors which utilize a center
pin. Jacks are considered female gendered connectors utilizing a center socket.
