The Alcatel 1906 OFA (Optical Fiber
Amplifier) is designed to offer excellent
single-channel booster performance
characteristics in a very small package
(70 x 90 x 12 mm) with reduced
electrical consumption.
Compact OFAs with integrated pumps
can now be used where, previously
only "passive gain modules" were used.
Single channel 980 nm boosters in 10
and 15 dBm configurations are
available.
Electrical consumption is minimized by
using highly efficient pumps; power
consumption is typically < 3 W
These units offer significant space
savings on system PCBs.
The cost advantages of these compact,
“pump-integrated” OFAs include:
lower landed cost, reduced board
assembly time, and reduced cost of
use.
