PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
MK1409
Peripheral Clock Synthesizer
Description
The MK1409 is the ideal way to generate clocks
for peripherals used in computer motherboards.
The device uses MicroClock’s proprietary mixture
of analog and digital Phase-Locked Loop (PLL)
technology to synthesize one of four frequencies
from the 14.31818 MHz reference. The chip
provides clocks of 12, 16, 24, 30, 40 and 48 MHz
in different combinations. It also has a mode
where it can be used to multiply the input clock by
1.5X, 2X, and 3X. In an 8 pin SOIC, the MK1409
can save component count, board space, and cost
over crystals and oscillators, and increase reliability
by eliminating up to three expensive mechanical
devices from the board.
MicroClock offers many other clocks for
computers and computer peripherals. Consult
MicroClock when you need to remove crystals and
oscillators from your board.
