The new U787D series was developed specifically for the excessive environmental and ripple current
requirements of automotive applications. The device exhibits superb electrical performance through
2,000 hours of rated DC voltage with rated ripple current applied at 150 C, providing extreme ripple
capability for applications with an ambient of 125 C or higher. The unique construction of the U787D
design is also capable of withstanding excessive vibration and is available in both two and three lead
radial termination.
The U787D series capacitors are available with a polyester sleeve and an optional solvent proof epoxy
end-seal required for exposure to halogenated cleaning solvents. Refer to the Mini-Glossary for
recommended cleaning conditions.

Life Validation Test
The following specifications shall be satisfied when the capacitors are restored to 25 C
after subjecting them to the DC rated voltage for 2,000 hours at 150 C with the rated ripple
current applied. The sum of the DC voltage and peak AC voltage must not exceed the full
rated voltage of the capacitors.

Shelf Test
The following specifications shall be satisfied when the capacitors are restored to 25 C after
exposing them for 1,000 hours at 150 C without voltage applied. The rated voltage shall be
applied to the capacitors for a minimum of 30 minutes, at least 24 hours and not more than
48 hours before the measurements.

for capacitance of 100 F or more. R indicates the decimal point for

68R = 68 F; 681 = 680 F; 682 = 6,800 F; 683 = 68,000 F ).
