Portable electronic devices powered by batteries require battery chargers. In higher power applications, efficiency and thermal management requirements have led to solutions using DC/DC converters. However, DC/DC converter controllers do not have the accuracy and functionality required for advanced battery charging and PowerPathTM management.
Linear Technology's LTC®4000 has the accuracy and functionality needed to transform DC/DC converters into high-performance battery chargers with features such as charge current and input current regulation, charge voltage and system voltage regulation, C/X or Features include timer charge termination, trickle charging, temperature-friendly charging, instant-on, and ideal diode/PowerPath control. The device can accommodate a wide range of applications with input and output voltage ranges from 3V to 60V.

The LTC4000 easily adds these capabilities to common DC/DC converters.
