The VL53L0 uses time-of-flight (TOF) ranging, that is, the sensor emits modulated near-infrared light and reflects it when it encounters an object. The sensor calculates the time difference or phase difference between light emission and reflection to convert it into distance. Whether it is autonomous driving or VR, TOF technology is inseparable.
