15W Wireless Charging Receiver Reference Design

 
Overview
This 15W wireless charging receiver reference platform with LDO architecture uses our MWPR1516 receiver controller IC, which can manage and execute all the functions required to implement a wireless charging receiver solution. This highly optimized solution utilizes an internal LDO controller to achieve extremely high performance at a very low bill of materials cost. The design provides 5V output and supports 3A current. This reference platform complies with the latest Medium Power Working Group (MPWG) specifications of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and can receive charging characteristics from any Qi-certified transmitter. The LDO controller with external MOSFETs enables high current delivery capability at a very low cost. Specially designed FSK and CNC models simplify the development of MPWG bidirectional communication. A 12-bit ADC and PGA provide the simplest small-system-level power loss detection, enabling FOD. A USB/adapter switch allows wired charging to be set as the preferred option for energy savings. I2C and UART retain the receiver's ability to communicate with the host AP (application processor) for security or content delivery functions. This reference solution comes with the NXP Embedded Wireless Charger Software Library, helping customers achieve design flexibility and product uniqueness, and providing necessary NXP IP. A user-friendly FreeMASTER interface is provided to encourage user interaction. A highly integrated and flexible platform helps customers shorten development time and accelerate time-to-market. Pre-validation is performed according to WPC compliance testing procedures.
