It can replace the electromechanical charging voltage regulator composed of a generator system in the automobile, and its performance is better than the latter. It prevents undercharging or overcharging of 12V lead-acid batteries, thereby extending battery life. In the circuit, LM723 is used as a switching regulator to control the excitation current of the generator.
