What is a four-channel 64G linear modulator driver chip? What does it do? MACOM's newly launched MAOM-006408 combines high bandwidth, low power consumption and excellent linearity.

This device has excellent performance, provides full analog and full digital control, and is expected to meet the requirements of HB-CDM and IC-TROSA standards for 600G deployment.

Small form factor single chip solution for 64Gbaud and 64 QAM transceivers.

Four-channel 64G linear modulator driver chip, do you know?

Lowell, MA, March 13, 2018 - MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. ("MACOM") today announced the launch of MAOM-006408, a 64 GBaud long-haul, metro and data center interconnect (DCI) The application's single-chip four-channel linear differential modulator driver uses high-order modulation schemes up to 64QAM. The device achieves low power consumption, high bandwidth and excellent linearity in an extremely small chip size, and is expected to meet the HB-CDM and IC-TROSA standards being developed by the Optical Internet Forum (OIF).

As telecom operators and Internet content providers continue to drive demand for higher data rates and panel densities, the OIF is working to develop standards for small-footprint components at 64 Gbaud and 64 QAM to support them. In order to meet the requirements of small size and high operating frequency, it becomes extremely advantageous to use package-level integration of driver chips and Mach-Zehnder modulators. This drives the need for quad-channel linear drivers in a single semiconductor die, compared to existing discrete driver solutions where multiple dies are integrated in surface-mount modules.

Rajiv Somisetty, Senior Product Manager, MACOM Networks, said: "We are very excited to launch this new highly integrated high-bandwidth modulator driver. Over the past seven years, MACOM has been at the forefront of innovation in modulator driver coherent technology deployment, with "With the latest portfolio of modulator drivers for 64Gbaud systems, our leadership will extend into next-generation deployments of 400G and beyond."

MACOM's MAOM-006408 integrates four channels in a single silicon germanium chip and can achieve full digital control through the serial peripheral interface (SPI), promoting the improvement of technological innovation standards. MAOM-006408 has been optimized to flexibly drive various MZ modulators with extremely low power consumption. In addition, it offers full analog and full digital control and is expected to meet the requirements of HB-CDM and IC-TROSA standards. The above is the analysis of the four-channel 64G linear modulator driver chip. I hope it can help you.
