PPLICATION
The Thomas & Betts 0.5mm-pitch
double row FPC connector realizes
double the mounting density of the
conventional 0.5mm-pitch FPC / FFC
connector. This connector will meet the
strict requirements of reduced size,
weight, and multi-position arrangement
for personal computing, information
communication, and AV apparatuses.
Ideal applications are board-to-board
and board to LCD — such as color
LCD’s, notebook personal computers,
portable terminals, v i d e o / d i g i t a l
cameras, cellular telephones, and hand-
held pc’s.

A
DVANTAGES
• A double row structure and low
profile height of 2.5mm from the
board surface.
• The stainless steel coverplate may
be grounded at the time of
mounting for improvement of
electrical characteristics.
• Applicable to automatic mounting
and SMT.
• FPC can be attached to the
connector manually/automatically
and detached from the connector
with a hand tool.
• The board-backing of FPC,
required for a conventional board-
to-board connector, is not
necessary. Further, FPC and
connector can be easily aligned
visually with each other for mating.
TWO POSITIONS, ON EACH SIDE, AT THE END OF THE
CONNECTOR PROVIDE RE-ENFORCING AND GROUNDING.
THE CIRCUIT PATTERN OF THE FPC MUST PROVIDE THE
GROUNDING PATTERN FOR THESE EIGHT POSITIONS.

PPLICATION
FPC assemblies consist of FPC cables
which are designed to fit to T&B’s high
density FPC connectors (FF-1 Series).
The FPC assemblies are supplied with
coverplates as a means of mating to
the FF-1 connector. Ideal applications
include board-to-board and board to
LCD.

PROFILE
•
The height of 2.5mm from the board surface (lower than
the height of a board-to-board connector for which FPC
must be backed with a board) is realized with the double-
row structure.

HARACTERISTICS
•
The stainless-steel plate can be grounded at the time of
mounting. EMI-resistant properties and reduced cross
talk can be obtained by the metallic shielding of stainless-
steel plate.

• A sufficient attracting plane is provided on the top of the
connector.
• The connectors are supplied in an embossed-tape
packing.
• The shape of the connector is easily
recognized by an image processor.

• The LCP insulator offers excellent resistance to solder
reflow.
• The ascent of flux is avoided by insert-molding.
• The reliability of reflow soldering is secured by the terminal
shape, which facilitates the formations of back-fillet.
• Bosses are located on the upper part of the connector for
accurate and easy mating of the FPC.
• FPC can be manually attached/detached from the
connector with a hand tool.
• The board-backing of FPC which is required
for a conventional board-to-board connector is not
necessary. Further, FPC and connector can be easily
aligned visually with each other for
mating.
