electrically connect a (tap) wire end to a through
(run) wire, insulate and provide a moisture resistant
seal for the connection.

thermoplastic insulated wires with a maximum

Self-Stripping Electrical Tap Connector (as
manufactured by 3M, part No. 804) capable of
connecting a tap wire to a run wire and providing a
moisture seal, in the wire range of 18-16 AWG (0,75-
1,0 mm

) solid or stranded, and 14 AWG (1,5 mm
2
)
stranded, tinned or untinned copper insulated wire,
with a maximum insulation diameter, of .145 inches
(3,5 mm). The connector shall be rated 600 volts and
have an insulation temperature rating of 90˚C (194˚F).
Maximum recommended current for general purpose
applications: 18 AWG - 7 Amps, 16 AWG - 10 Amps,
14 AWG - 15 Amps

Installation Instructions
3. Insert unstripped tap wire completely into tap port.
WARNING
Turn power off before installing or removing terminal. All electri-
cal work should be done according to appropriate electrical
codes.
1. Open hinged side wall.
4. Hold tool perpendicular to the wire and make the
connection by crimping the u-contact down flush
with the top of the insulator.
2. Place unstripped run wire inside run channel and
close hinged side wall.
5. Close cover until latched.
