GENERAL PURPOSE EXTENDERS
3690 Series General Purpose Extend ers
The 3690 Series general purpose Card Extenders are specifically designed to provide
low cost accessibility to 4.5" wide card or 2.73" wide cards.
Some types are provided with high quality, long life receptacles mounted on
top of the extender (see table). These receptacles have double action phosphor
bronze contacts designed for minimum printed circuit card wear, low insertion force
and positive contact with printed circuit board contacts. Appropriate polarizing keys
are supplied with the receptacle. Contact fingers at the other end of extender card are
gold plated. Other types are available without receptacle to enable user to install any
receptacle with the same contact spacing as the centers of the copper strips of the
extender board (see table). These also make useful experimental Plugbords.
Probe hooks may be attached to tips on receptacles. Figure 1 below shows
proper use of the card extenders to gain access to operational Plugbord for testing.
