summary

Avnet has released its first AWS-based IoTConnect platform, pre-configured with AWS Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud services, to help OEMs achieve simple, fast, and secure IoT deployments.

Avnet recently released its first IoTConnect platform, built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), designed to help OEMs simplify the development of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and reduce time to market by more than 50%. The IoTConnect platform can help OEMs designing connected solutions overcome various pressures and shorten time to market while ensuring scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security.

Currently, many OEMs have relatively lean organizational structures and need to continue investing and integrating their resources to create differentiated value and provide their technical expertise to the market. Since IoT projects often require additional technical support in areas such as software, security, and cloud management, adding IoT functionality to products often places significant pressure on these companies. Providing OEMs with pre-integrated and abstracted capabilities that enable easy integration and deployment can significantly accelerate OEMs' progress and reduce costs, allowing them to focus on developing their own intellectual property.

Avnet launches AWS IoTConnect platform

The first AWS-based IoTConnect platform integrates AWS cloud-native services such as AWS IoT Core, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), and AWS Lambda. Future updates to the IoTConnect platform will also add support for AWS IoT Greengrass, FreeRTOS, AWS IoT Analytics, and AWS IoT SiteWise. This release and future updates will enable OEMs to focus on feature and application development, truly enhancing the performance of their connected products and reaping numerous benefits.

Powered by AWS, Avnet's IoTConnect platform will offer advanced capabilities such as pre-integrated edge-to-cloud hardware designs, as well as secure authentication and identity management covering the entire device lifecycle. It will also provide OEMs with a seamless, scalable full-stack solution, including hardware-agnostic edge designs, as well as customized business applications and analytics. All of these capabilities will be delivered through Avnet's IoTConnect platform in a one-stop, integrated service experience, helping OEMs, system integrators, and software developers support, secure, and profitably deliver customer-facing solutions.

"Avnet's launch of its first AWS-based product marks a significant step forward in our efforts to help OEMs design, build, deploy, and manage cloud-connected devices, applications, and solutions at scale," said Lou Lutostanski, vice president of Avnet's IoT business.
