AI Computing Full Stack Technology Forum


At the AI ​​Computing Full Stack Technology Forum at the elexcon Shenzhen International Electronics Show and Embedded World, Avnet Design Manager Xiao Chengwei presented a lecture titled "Avnet Design Services: Efficient Power Solutions for AI Servers and Data Centers." He systematically explained the challenges facing power systems amid the explosion of AI computing power and shared Avnet's advanced solutions in this area.

Xiao Chengwei pointed out that the Chinese accelerated server market will reach US$22.1 billion in 2024, a year-on-year growth of 134%. GPU servers will dominate this market, while non-GPU accelerated servers such as ASICs and FPGAs will also see rapid growth. At the same time, global data center energy consumption continues to climb. It is estimated that by 2030, China's data center electricity consumption will account for 4.8% of total electricity consumption. Energy conservation and efficient power supply have become key issues in the industry. Against this backdrop, Avnet, leveraging its technological expertise in third-generation semiconductor materials (such as SiC and GaN), partners with leading international manufacturers to provide customers with a full-link power supply solution from PDUs, PSUs, BBUs, IBCs, to POLs . These solutions encompass high-efficiency resonant AC-DCs, high-power density DC-DCs, bidirectional conversion power supplies, and battery management systems .


Furthermore, Avnet is highly focused on and proactively developing the 800 VDC architecture, a key technology direction, recognizing its critical value in building next-generation, high-performance data centers. Compared to current 54V systems, this architecture offers a 5% improvement in end-to-end efficiency, ensuring more efficient energy utilization. Furthermore, the 800 VDC architecture significantly reduces current, copper consumption, and heat loss, making it more suitable for future high-density, MW-scale cabinet deployments.

3.3KW BI PFC


This bidirectional 3.3kW PFC solution, based on a SiC bridgeless single-phase totem-pole architecture, operates within an AC input voltage range of 85VAC to 265VAC, and offers an adjustable DC output voltage between 350V and 430V . The system boasts an efficiency exceeding 99%, a power factor as high as 0.999, and a system power density of 73W/IN³. This solution is suitable for industrial AI power supplies, energy storage, and solar inverters.



3KW TPPFC and COMBO LLC+SR Controller Solution


  • This reference design supports a global wide voltage range of 100-240V, an output voltage of 54V, and an output power of 3KW.

  • It uses ON Semiconductor's CCM totem PFC controller NCP1681 and secondary-side synchronous rectification LLC controller NCP4390.

  • The power device uses ON Semiconductor's silicon carbide power tube NTH4L032N065M3S.

  • The maximum efficiency of the whole machine reaches 96.8%, with a small number of components and low BOM cost.

  • The analog totem PFC solution meets high energy efficiency design while lowering the design threshold.
