M.2 SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

Overview

Version update history:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
V1.0: Initial version (NG)
V1.1: Corrected the error in the fixed hole spacing of the M.2 hard disk and shortened the PCB length (NG)
V1.2: Corrected the error in the SATA differential pair (which would cause the disk to not be recognized), and the output inductor of the internal DC-DC of 1153E was replaced with the one in 0806 package (MPL2016S4R7MHT) (OK)

This is an M.2 SATA hard disk enclosure designed and produced based on the Asmedia ASM1153E USB3.0 to SATA bridge chip.
The design refers to the MSATA hard disk enclosure of the "xljxlj" brother (Project link: MSATA hard disk enclosure based on the TYPEC interface of ASM1153E - Jialichuang EDA open source hardware platform (oshwhub.com))
The hard disk interface adopts NGFF and supports M.2 The SSD with SATA protocol supports 2230 and 2242 size solid-state
USB interface, which uses 10p micro-b (the kind used in ordinary hard drive enclosures). Type-C is not considered, mainly for the convenience of wiring and welding, and also for compatibility with old devices that only have Type-A.
The height of the M.2 connector can be selected according to your needs. The default height is H4.2.
If you want to use a 4.2mm high copper column for proofing, choose JLC7628 for PCB stacking (you can get it for free). The thickness is 1.6mm.
The DC-DC chip actually uses SY8003A, and the output inductor is 1.5uH (WPN4020H1R5MT).
The attachment is the information of the 1153E hard disk box, including the data sheet, firmware tool, and the 3D shell made by the big brother "Jun Wuhui" in the EDA5 group (special thanks).
Note: 1153E can be used normally without flashing the firmware, but it does not support TRIM and UASP (the measured read and write speed is okay). The name of the hard disk box displayed in the system can be modified in the firmware tool.
The attachment has uploaded the UASP firmware~
Attached is the tutorial for using the firmware tool:
The following is the actual picture:
The MLC SSD controlled by 2258XT is used (the performance is average)
The CrystalDIskInfo test results are as follows. It shows the SSD's own name. You can see that UASP is enabled.
Below is the read and write performance test. Only sequential read and write are tested. The speed is quite fast (I don't know if it is because of 1153E or SSD, the 4K speed is very slow).
A total of 5 pieces were printed. Jiali Chuang SMT stickers are good for resistors and capacitors, which is very convenient~ (It is highly recommended to choose SMT here, which will make the welding work much easier)
