Overview

His engineering report describes a laptop adapter power supply demonstration board using the TOPSwitch-HX TOP261LN. The power supply operates from a universal input and provides 19.7 V, 65 W continuous output. TOPSwitch-HX maintains constant efficiency over a very wide load range, eliminating the need for special operating modes for specific load thresholds. This optimizes performance with existing and emerging energy efficiency regulations such as 1 W standby, 1.7 W and 2.4 W sleep modes, as well as Energy Star 2.0 >87% average efficiency requirements. TOPSwitch products provide constant efficiency that meets average efficiency requirements, ensuring design optimization for future changes in energy efficiency regulations without the need for redesign.
