The picture shows a 100kHz 600W power factor correction circuit (PFC) using ZVT--PWM boost topology. In order to reduce costs, the main switch tube adopts IR company, TO-220 shape, IGBT tube; IRGB30U is connected to an external 4.4nF capacitor to soften the switch and reduce turn-off loss. Although the auxiliary switch has a low root mean square current, it bears a high turn-off current, so a MOSFET tube, IRFP450 (500V, 16A, 150W), is selected.
The output voltage of the circuit is regulated at 380V, and the input voltage is AC 90~260V. The efficiency of the power correction circuit is related to the working range of the input voltage. When the ZVT PFC circuit operates at 100kHz and the AC input voltage ranges from 180 to 260V, the total efficiency reaches 97% to 98%.
