(NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of a new series of VDR metal oxide Material Varistor (MOV)---VDRUS series, certified operating temperature up to +125 C, compliant with UL 1449 4th edition and VDE/IEC 61051-1/2 standards. Vishay BCcomponents VDRUS series resistors are specially designed for overvoltage and transient voltage protection in consumer electronics and industrial applications. Their surge current resistance is 30% higher than the previous generation devices.
The devices launched recently consist of high-purity zinc oxide chip resistors, available in standard dimensions of 7 mm, 10 mm, 14 mm and 20 mm, with two solid copper leads or matte tin copper-clad steel wires. The new varistor has excellent high-temperature performance thanks to its UL94-V0 rated flame-retardant silicone coating, which provides electrical, mechanical and weather protection.
The VDRUS series electrical resistors have surge currents from 1.8 kA to 13 kA, rated voltages from 115 VAC to 680 VAC, and energy absorption from 19 J to 720 J. They are available in straight or curved lead forms. Varistors are suitable for use in power supply controllers and input filters in household appliances such as electric stoves and washing machines, as well as in industrial applications such as motor controllers, AC/DC converters and circuit breakers.
The device complies with RoHS standards, is halogen-free, and is suitable for automatic plug-in assembly, wave soldering and pin-immersed solder paste reflow soldering processes.
