Generator longitudinal differential protection is used to protect generator stator windings from phase short circuit. For generators below 800kW, when
the sensitivity of the current quick-break protection does not meet the requirements, longitudinal differential protection can be installed; for generators above 800kW,
longitudinal differential protection should be installed.
The generator longitudinal differential protection circuit is shown in Figure 7-21. In the figure, 1TA and 2TA are current transformers, KA, ~KA.
