Description

Effective immediately, Cree has changed the official part numbering and binning schemes for the part numbers listed

on the first page. The physical products have not changed. All specifications – including optical, electrical, mechanical,

thermal characteristics and appearance – remain identical through this change.

Through this process, Cree is standardizing the bins used for color (either dominant wavelength (DWL) or chromaticity),

light output and voltage across each major package type. The minimum and maximum values for the new bin structures

may not align perfectly with the previous bin structures. Please refer to the new part number data sheet for specific bin

details.

In addition, some of the typical values reported on the data sheet have been updated on the new data sheets. This is

not an indication of product change, but is a reflection of better production information.

Impact of Change

Cree will continue to ship the old bins against the old order codes until May 31, 2009. Cree will continue to honor the

old order codes still in use beyond May 31, 2009.

However, effective June 1, 2009, Cree will ship LEDs that are binned and labeled with the new part numbering system

against old order codes. Cree will ship the closest equivalent new bins that fit within the specifications of the old order

code.

In order to avoid confusion, Cree recommends that customers of the affected part numbers switch to the new order code

system before June 1, 2009. To aid in the conversion process, the following pages have tables that list the equivalent

part numbers for both the old and new part number systems. Also, the last page of this notification is a reference sheet

that details the structure of the first 2 groups of the new part number system.
