Avnet's Participation in the "Asia Pacific Innovation Summit 2017": A Review of Smart Connected Cities

From September 7 to 8, 2017, Avnet participated in the " Asia Pacific Innovation Summit " - Smart & Connected Cities event held in the three exhibition halls of the Hong Kong Science Park Convention and Exhibition Centre.



The Asia -Pacific Innovation Summit is a summit that connects people engaged in technological innovation within the research ecosystem with government departments and investors. It also acts as a bridge, enabling them to connect with different industries and thus promote the application of innovative technologies.


The Asia Pacific Innovation Summit 2017 showcased a number of innovative solutions for realizing smart cities. Participants were able to experience firsthand a variety of smart solutions developed by companies in the park, including: cashless payment methods to establish mobile business transaction platforms; smart food technology to improve food safety using artificial intelligence and robotics; automated "unmanned vending stores"; and self-driving cars.


At the conference, Avnet demonstrated and introduced LPWAN (LoRa, Sigfox, NB-IoT) and various sensor products, and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Internet of Talents".



Speaker Joe Chung stated that we need diverse talents to create a better world, and that the combined power of people can create more opportunities and possibilities for the extensive interconnection of things.


Today, we should bring together talent from various fields to build the IoT ecosystem. Data and sharing are like the heart and blood of the IoT world. Data is undoubtedly the core of the IoT, and Avnet is fulfilling its responsibility of sharing within this world.


As a connecting link in the smart city ecosystem, we share data and knowledge among component suppliers, OEM manufacturers, service providers, cloud/data platform providers, and solution providers.
