Xia Qing

Co-founder of Mushroom Cloud Makerspace


Since 2008, Xia Qing has been dedicated to promoting maker culture and fostering the development of the maker movement in China. In 2010, he partnered with David Li, a renowned Chinese maker godfather, to establish China's first makerspace, the New Workshop. In 2013, with support from DFRobot and SPDR Group, he established the Mushroom Cloud Makerspace. As a senior engineer in open source hardware at DFRobot, he embodies the maker spirit and serves as product manager for the Dream Maker 3D printer team. A graduate of Tongji University in Environmental Engineering, Xia Qing has primarily worked on sewage and wastewater treatment projects since graduation. His passion for robotics led him to win fourth place in the 2004 Shanghai Regional Robotics Challenge, co-sponsored by the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate General. He also completed the design and crowdfunding of his HCR project during the RoboticFan robotics forum.

Bai Rui founded Yijie Technology in 2008 and is the co-founder of ShineBlink. He is committed to making the Internet of Things simple and interesting. He has created a large number of vivid and interesting Internet of Things-related videos, promoted the minimalist access to the Internet of Things and cloud platforms, and quickly completed the Internet of Things prototype.

Li Rongzhong

Global senior maker player

He holds a PhD in Physics and an MS in Computer Science from Wake Forest University, USA, and a BS in Physics from Nanjing University. He graduated from Nanjing University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in physics, and subsequently received a PhD in Physics and a MS in Computer Science from Wake Forest University. He has published five first-author papers in international journals and remained at the university for two years as an adjunct assistant professor (focusing on programming fundamentals, computer vision, and STEM/Robotics labs). He also collaborated with the Boeing team on patented projects. He independently developed the OpenCat project in 2016, founded Petoi LLC in the US in 2017, successfully crowdfunded Nybble in 2018, and has been shipping the product since then. In 2019, he returned to Shenzhen to establish Petoi. After a year of R&D at his Dongguan factory, he successfully crowdfunded Bittle and began mass production in 2020. The product currently holds three international patents and is used in over 60 countries and regions.
