Industry 4.0 marks the fourth industrial revolution, which is characterized by distributed and intelligent control systems. Industry 4.0 gets rid of the bulky, centralized programmable logic controllers of the past , allowing factories to be highly configurable and modular, supporting a significant increase in the number of sensor inputs and higher output than before. Ultra-small size PLC, or micro PLC, is the core of the Industry 4.0 factory, providing high performance and extremely low power consumption in an extremely small size package. MAXREFDES61# is Maxim's micro PLC, four-channel analog input card.
MAXREFDES61# features 16-bit high-precision, four-channel analog input, power and data isolation. Two of the input channels support -10V to +10V voltage signals, and the other two input channels support 4mA to 20mA current signals. The MAXREFDES61# design integrates a dual-channel, low-noise, low-distortion buffer (MAX9633); a 16-bit, 4-channel, multi-range input ADC (MAX1301); and two high-voltage, 4–20mA current protectors (MAX14626) for current Input channels; ultra-high-precision 4.096V voltage reference (MAX6126); 600VRMS data isolation (MAX14850); STM32F4 microcontroller; FTDI USB-UART bridge; high-efficiency DC-DC converter (MAX15062); and isolation/regulation +15V, +5V and -3V supplies (MAX17498C/MAX8719/MAX1659/MAX1735). The power consumption of the entire system is typically less than 500mW, making it suitable for use in a space the size of a credit card. When used in industrial and micro PLC fields, MAXREFDES61# can be used in any application that requires high-precision analog-to-digital conversion. Figure 1 shows the system block diagram.
