Overview

This reference design provides a complete three-phase AC/DC and DC/AC (800 VDC to 400 VAC) power conversion solution based on a digital platform.

It is ideally suited for high-power charging stations, industrial battery chargers, and the active front-end (AFE) stage of UPS. High-frequency applications and multi-level topologies of SiC MOSFETs can achieve nearly 99% efficiency while optimizing passive component size and cost.

  • Three-phase three-level bidirectional AC/DC converter:
    • Rated nominal DC voltage: 800 V DC
    • Rated nominal AC voltage: 400 V AC @ 50 Hz
    • Nominal power: 15 kW
  • AC to DC rectification mode:
    • Power factor control, PF > 0.99
    • Inrush current control and soft start
  • DC to AC inverter mode:
    • Active and reactive power control
    • Integrated grid connection solution
  • Power devices based on SiC MOSFETs
    • High frequency operation (100 kHz)
    • Efficient, η = 99%
    • Reduce passive component weight and size
  • Control part based on STM32G474RE microcontroller:
    • Fully compatible with other STDES three-phase power converters
    • 4 integrated high-performance operational amplifiers
    • Control and monitoring interfaces: SWIM, UART, I²C, DACs
    • 64-pin digital power connector
    • Overcurrent and overvoltage protection
    • Configurable topology (Level 2 - 3)
