Overview

TI Designs TIDA-00449 is a ready-to-use and tested hardware platform for monitoring, balancing and protecting power tool 10-cell series battery packs. Power tools increasingly use high power density battery packs based on lithium-ion or lithium iron phosphate cells, which require explosion protection against incorrect charging or discharging. TIDA-00449 also meets the thermal requirements for power tool battery packs when discharged at sustained high currents.

  • ● Battery pack designed for 36V (10-cell lithium-ion battery or lithium iron phosphate battery), 50A maximum continuous discharge current
  • ● Monitor battery voltage, battery pack current, and battery pack temperature, and protect by controlling charge/discharge FET and battery balance
  • ● Hardware protection can be provided under discharge overcurrent, discharge short circuit, overvoltage and undervoltage conditions.
  • ● On-board ultra-small size, low on-resistance, low Qg and Qgd FemtoFET ​​MOSFET, suitable for passive balancing current up to 150mA per cell
  • ● Low quiescent current, ultra-low power state suitable for shipping
  • ●Onboard host microcontroller supports battery power monitoring
