DER-233 - 15 W Power Supply with Low No-load, High Efficiency Power Consumption

Overview

This document is an engineering report describing the adapter power supply using the TOPSwitch-HX TOP254EN. Intended as a general-purpose evaluation platform, this power supply operates from a universal input and provides a 6 V, 15 W continuous output. The adapter meets Energy Star 2.0 standards with average efficiency >79%, no-load <150 mW at 230 VAC, and CISPR conducted and radiated EMI margins exceeding 6dB. The power supply provides thermal overload protection and utilizes large hysteresis for automatic recovery. This document contains power supply specifications, schematics, bill of materials, transformer documentation, printed circuit layout and performance data. Conducted and radiated EMI results are also provided.
