Overview
The 5 W single-coil wireless charging transmitter reference design features Freescale’s MWCT1000 transmitter controller IC, which manages and executes all control functions required to implement a wireless charging transmitter solution. The solution is highly optimized to achieve very high performance at a very low bill of materials cost. The design is compliant with the latest Qi specification from the Wireless Power Consortium and has been certified as a WPC-A11 transmitter. The solution has many features designed to provide a universal solution that supports multiple coil types. Features Certified as a WPC-A11 transmitter Transmission efficiency exceeds 75% Transmitter IC consumes less than 30 mA in active operation mode On-chip digital demodulation Proximity sensing technology with only 30 mW standby power consumption Robust foreign object detection algorithm Very low bill of materials cost Supports current-limited devices such as PCs Supports any 5 W single-coil application using a 5 V input source
