The functional introduction
mainly includes multiple SATA/SAS hard drive backplane designs, suitable for 4-bay drives.
It adapts to two types of hard drive bracket indicator light positions:
Dell 13th generation hard drive bracket 3.5"/2.5" and
Huawei V5 hard drive bracket 3.5"/2.5".
Each PCB has a corresponding 3D printed model of the hard drive cage, which will be uploaded gradually after modification and verification.
The backplane's
main function is to split an 8643 into four SAS (SATA compatible) interfaces, with read/write LEDs already brought out. Another is a power indicator light.
Some are 2-layer boards, and some are 4-layer boards; they are basically based on the same schematic, with differences mainly in layout and LED indicator positions. The "8643_3.5x4_Dell Hard Drive Bracket_V3" has read/write indicator light jumpers, which can be soldered separately as needed.
The PCB designations are
as follows: those marked with "Verification" are from earlier verification phases and are not recommended.
Designations like "2.5*4" represent 4-bay 2.5-inch hard drives
; "2.5*6" represents 6-bay 2.5-inch hard drives (SATA direct output)
; and "3.5*4" represents 4-bay 3.5-inch hard drives. Designations
with "Huawei V5 Hard Drive Bracket" or "Dell Hard Drive Bracket" indicate the compatible hard drive bracket. LED indicator lights
on the PCBs indicate 12V step-down to 5V DC-DC modules, none of which have been verified. (I recommend another DC-DC module project.)
Originally, I planned to integrate the DC-DC module onto the backplane and verified this, but considering module heat dissipation and the heat generated by SAS hard drives, later modifications eliminated the DC-DC module. All
designs
except the power board have been verified.
The following images are actual PCB layouts for the "8643_3.5x4_Dell Hard Drive Enclosure_V3".

We recommend using the "8643_3.5x4_Dell Hard Drive Enclosure_V3", "8643_3.5x4_Huawei V5 Hard Drive Enclosure", and "SATA_2.5x6_Huawei V5 Hard Drive Enclosure".
The "8643_3.5x4_Dell Hard Drive Cage_V3" uses M2.5x4.5x1+3.0x1.2 solder nuts for its 8 mounting holes. The boss and SAS interface face the same direction. The hard drive

cage design files
for the three recommended PCBs have been uploaded. ABS printing is recommended. ---
Added a direct-insertion enclosure design file in July 2024, suitable for the "8643_3.5x4_Dell Hard Drive Cage_V3" PCB file, modified from [QNAS4](【Ultra-mini QNAS4 Bay NAS Chassis 3D Printing FDM】 https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Kg411z7EG/?share_source=copy_web&vd_source=d9ae15399e57a07dece7b346f766d793) hard drive cage, all verified. --- August 2024
