C51 MCU and ARM development board [Copy link]

I bought a C51 microcontroller before, and now I am learning it. At the same time, I am also taking ARM courses. So I don’t know whether I should master the microcontroller first or buy an ARM development board and learn at the same time? I find that if I learn at the same time, it seems that because 51 and ARM have some things in common, it will be easier to learn. I don’t know if this understanding is correct? Can experts give me some advice?

I studied microcontrollers in my sophomore year, and I feel like I'm doing well. I started learning ARM these days, and I'm basically determined to go this route. But it's so difficult to learn, and I feel like I can't get started now.  Details Published on 2011-6-5 21:12

As long as you don't find it hard to learn ARM, you can learn both. 51 is just the basis. If you don't find it hard to learn ARM, it means your basis is OK, enough to learn ARM. But I suggest that after learning both, you should master one, haha!

The two things are a little different in architecture, the programming is similar, of course the development environment is different, if ARM does not run an embedded operating system, it is just a more powerful 51 microcontroller. The CPU speed is higher, the peripherals are richer, the resources are larger, etc.

I think it's better to learn 51 first, and then learn ARM step by step after learning 51. Many basic things require the foundation of microcontrollers, and ARM will be very difficult to learn if you don't have the foundation to run the system.

I agree with the above comments, but you can just run first, and then walk if you can't run anymore.

It's better to learn ARM because of preconceived ideas. 51 can be beneficial to ARM but it can also interfere with it.
