What laptops do engineers use? Tell us about yours [Copy link]

    Laptops are no longer the expensive gadgets they were 10 years ago. They have become a must-have for business trips, entertainment, and family life. What laptops do students, engineers, and business travelers use? Why do you choose one? And share the pros and cons. Let me start with my student. I bought a Carbon X1 2015 online for Matlab simulation and writing papers.

Oh, mine hasn't been approved yet, which is really a rip-off. Never mind, if it doesn't pass I won't buy it.  Details Published on 2016-5-24 11:22

This is to show off my wealth... My two laptops were bought in 2013! They are a bit old! My desktop is a cheap one worth more than 1,000 yuan.

I bought Lenovo Y450 during the National Day in 2009. It was an arcade machine back then. I have been using it till now and it has never broken down. Maybe the software I wrote does not consume too many resources, so it is still competent now. The heat dissipation is not very good now. In the summer, if the temperature is high and the air conditioner is not turned on, a blue screen may appear.

:loveliness: It does seem like showing off wealth, but the overseas shopping on Black Friday is not as expensive as I imagined. Besides, I finally earned my first pot of gold and I want to reward myself

The classic machine was revived immediately after replacing it with a solid-state drive

Let me talk about the laptops I have used for a long time. The first one was a smuggled Sony bought from the United States by my company. If you put a disc in it, the sound was like a helicopter taking off. It happened that we often used CDs at that time. Please ignore the mobile phone above. I only took this photo at that time. I endured this machine for nearly a year. Finally, I couldn't stand it anymore and the company gave me this cheap HP machine. I think it cost more than 3,000 yuan. After less than a year, the battery died, and then the power supply started to smoke. I made up my mind and spent 5,000 yuan to buy a Lenovo 430. I remember it was this model. Please ignore me taking apart the MP3 player on it because the desk was too messy at the time:pleased: I used this machine for nearly 2 years, and finally the graphics card broke, because it had a discrete graphics card, so I spent more than 260 to buy a refurbished graphics card and installed it. Less than a month after using it, the computer hinge broke, so I bought a new one from Taobao to replace it. The computer screen kept flickering from time to time, so I guessed there was something wrong with the graphics card, but I was too lazy to fix it. Now it's gathering dust at home. This was my wife's computer, and she no longer uses it, so I've been using it all the time. It's about 4 or 5 years old, and it occasionally blues, so I guess there's something wrong with the graphics card, so I only use it occasionally. My main computer now is the Mackbook Air Basic Edition. The official price I paid for it was less than 8,000. I bought this computer when I was at my poorest, and people owed me money and I've been eating at McDonald's for nearly 2 months. I only have a few hundred dollars left in my pocket, and I don't have a job yet. Every day I carry a heavy Lenovo laptop to look for jobs and interviews. Then one weekend, I had just failed a job interview, and I passed by an Apple store and saw this computer. It was very thin, and when I turned on the computer, the Apple logo on the back was still bright and cool. I firmly believed that it could bring me good luck, so without even thinking about any configurations, I took out my credit card and swiped one. In the evening, I went back and copied my work into the computer, and I passed the interview the next day.{:1_138:} I am still using this computer now.

I agree. Mine is Y460 and my family's is Y450. My Y is good except for the poor heat dissipation. . {:1_102:}

Another question, the standard Sony battery basically wears out after 1-2 years of use.

Oh, that's right. But laptop batteries are basically like this. I've thrown away the battery for a long time and forgot about it.

I don't want to replace the solid-state drive. After using it for 7 years, many components have aged and the heat dissipation problem is serious. When it really can't be used anymore, just buy a new one.

I passed by a 2012 V480. The dust removal required a major dismantling, which was a bit of a pitfall, but everything else was fine.

2012 ASUS x43BY was a low-end machine back then. I was cheated by the JS and I endured it for so many years. This year I finally changed it. The battery is dead and the power port is directly broken. It can only turn on occasionally.

I am here to praise my cousin's MBA, well done. Let me talk about myself. I bought a Dell n4050 machine around 2012. Now I think that the independent graphics card is useless. I bought more than 4K and a hard disk of 5200rpm. The speed is too slow. I installed too many software and it is common for it to take 3-5 minutes to boot up. I reinstalled the system some time ago and found that the booting was too slow. I scanned the hard disk and found all kinds of bad sectors. I originally planned to use an SSD, but I found that the 250g hard disk of the HP notebook with broken gf was actually 7200rpm. I decisively replaced it. Now it is running very well. If there are no other problems, it can run for a while. I started to switch to iOS last year. Now I am using the company's MBP 15-inch beggar version. If it is equipped with a power supply, it is quite heavy. The company's 13-inch MBP before was pretty good. If I had to buy it myself, I would probably buy the MBP 13-inch beggar version, but I don't need it at this stage~

I learned it only after paying the tuition fee. If you like it, buy it, don't choose it. The time and energy saved can create more value.
