LM386 0.325 Watt Audio Amplifier

The LM386 is a power amplifier designed for low-voltage consumer applications. The internal gain is set to 20 to keep the number of external components small, but adding an external resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8 can increase the gain to any value between 20 and 200.

The input is ground-referenced, while the output is automatically biased to half the supply voltage. With a quiescent power consumption of only 24 milliwatts when operating from a 6-volt supply, the LM386 is well-suited for battery power.
