Contact switch or proximity sensor circuit

This circuit is started by adding capacitance between the two sensing electrodes and the ground end of the wire. Sensitivity can be adjusted appropriately when the human body is within one foot of the insulating metal plate, which acts as a sensing electrode. So, the sensitivity can be adjusted with a 1 million ohm potentiometer which prioritizes the anode voltage over the clamping voltage.
