How to use a discarded game controller as a speaker wire controller

The chips in game controllers' internal circuits often use integrated soft packaging. If a chip is damaged, it's impossible to replace it, rendering the controller useless. By slightly modifying a discarded game controller, we've created a convenient and practical wired speaker controller that controls volume and power. The detailed fabrication method is as follows.

Find a discarded game controller, such as a Sony PlayStation controller. To implement inline volume and power control, add the circuit shown below to the active speaker. The volume control uses the TC9153AP (a dedicated volume control chip), and to simplify the circuit, the power switch uses a micro self-locking switch.

Disassemble the game controller, cut off the copper foil of the contacts of the "↑" and "↓" buttons on the left side of the circuit board from other circuits, and connect the two ends of the contacts to AN1 and AN2 respectively through the original six-core wire of the controller; remove the conductive rubber of any button on the right side of the controller, drill a small hole in the center of its contact with a diameter that can accommodate the handle of the micro self-locking push button switch, and fix it with a hot melt wire, as shown in the figure above; the switch is also connected with the original six-core wire.

Finally, cut off the large plug connecting the game controller to the computer and replace it with a small flat cable plug commonly used on circuit boards. Install a corresponding socket on the back panel of the powered speaker. After checking that everything is correct, firmly connect the modified game controller to the speaker socket. Then, power on the speaker and you can enjoy the endless fun and convenience that the wired controller brings you.
