AI reshapes the automotive ecosystem

Opportunities and challenges coexist

In the fiercely competitive automotive industry in the AI era, intelligence, connectivity, and computing power are becoming core competitive advantages. Leading automakers are actively developing related technologies to drive the transformation of automobiles from hardware-driven to integrated hardware and software. Ms. Dong Hua, President of Avnet China , stated in an interview that over the next three to five years, AI will reshape the automotive ecosystem, bringing about entirely new user experiences and business models.

However, the implementation of AI technology faces multiple challenges. Ms. Dong Hua emphasized that data collection and processing, software and hardware coordination, the balance between computing power and energy consumption, and regulatory compliance are paramount. On the supply chain level, the surge in demand for high-performance chips, sensors, and edge computing platforms is testing the stability of automakers' supply chains. This is especially true with the expansion of smart cars into flying cars and the development of humanoid robots . The increasing material commonality resulting from technological homogeneity can lead to supply chain risks associated with large-scale applications. In response to this trend, companies need to enhance their risk resilience from both technical and management perspectives.

As the AI wave continues to surge, China's automotive industry is accelerating in the race to reshape the global automotive ecosystem, leveraging its market size, industrial chain resilience, and policy momentum. Ms. Dong Hua stated that China's strong policy support is not only driving the rapid development of new energy vehicles, but also fostering cross-industry collaboration and effectively stimulating innovation across society.

New Smart Car Ecosystem

The collaborative evolution and boundary breakthroughs of the automotive industry in the AI era

The deep penetration of artificial intelligence technology in the automotive sector is driving a profound transformation of the industry from a "mechanical carrier" to an "intelligent mobile terminal." In this process, ecosystem collaboration, software-defined technologies, and cross-industry integration constitute the three core engines driving industry upgrades. Furthermore, the impact of this transformation extends beyond the automotive sector to encompass broader areas such as humanoid robots, smart mobility, and infrastructure, promoting the restructuring of the industry ecosystem and the dissolution of boundaries.

At the Wuhan leg of Avnet's third Automotive Ecosystem Summit, a representative from the Investment Promotion Bureau of the East Lake High-tech Zone delivered a speech titled "Exploring Industry Advancement in the AI Era." He noted that China's Optics Valley boasts 150,000 companies, including 70 listed companies and approximately 6,000 high-tech enterprises, with outstanding strengths in optical communications, lasers, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. In the AI era, China's Optics Valley is strengthening its ecosystem, accelerating industry transformation through "full-chain services, integrated supply chain integration, and full investment lifecycle coverage," aiming to build a leading domestic AI ecosystem and industrial cluster.

Meanwhile, Liu Dujiao, Deputy General Manager of Wuhan Intest Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. , discussed the multidimensional communication paradigm of future intelligent connectivity with the theme of "Global Connectivity Breaking Boundaries: The Evolution and Practice of Multidimensional Communication Architecture for Intelligent Connected Vehicles." He shared the upgrade path from single-dimensional connectivity to global intelligence, as well as the evolution of the infrastructure supporting future intelligent transportation systems. Pan Fan, R&D Director of Elektrobit , focused on the "One-Stop Solution for Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Innovation Engine," focusing on how the company's one-stop SDV solution enables modular development, efficient deployment, and full lifecycle management of automotive software, thereby supporting functional safety and information security and accelerating industry innovation. Gu Qiang, Founder of the ROS Robotics Industry Platform Guyueju , discussed the convergence of intelligent vehicles and intelligent robots from the perspective of "Intelligent Vehicles + Open Ecosystem Empowering Intelligent Robots," and shared industry insights through practical application cases from his company.
