Overview

This solution is an electronic device that can monitor and manage the battery. This solution uses an MCU-based intelligent protection board, which has the advantages of convenient parameter adjustment, high flexibility, and better functional design.

The number of common cells in battery protection boards generally does not exceed 20 strings. Protection boards can be divided into pure hardware and MCU-based smart lithium battery protection boards. Compared with pure hardware, the MCU-based smart protection board has easy parameter adjustment, high flexibility, and functional design that can better meet customer needs. The conventional intelligent battery protection board system consists of the following figure:

In response to the diverse needs of battery protection boards, Nuvoton's high-performance NuMicro MCU provides:

  1. I/O supports 5V operating voltage, expanding the selection of peripheral analog devices and effectively reducing customer costs.
  2. Multi-channel high-speed 12-bit ADC responds to instantaneous changes in voltage, current and temperature of each battery, and can handle it in a timely manner to prevent cell overshoot, over-discharge and over-temperature.
  3. The chip integrates rich communication interfaces such as UART, I²C, SPI and CAN, which can simultaneously meet the communication needs with peripheral analog front-end ICs, host hosts and chargers, etc.
  4. Ultra-low standby and operating power consumption can effectively reduce the system's self-consumption and extend battery working time.
  5. The working range of -40℃ to 85℃ / 105℃ can effectively ensure the stability and reliability of the system.
  6. Provides a variety of packages and Flash Sizes, giving you more choices
