The STEVAL-VP22201B evaluation board features a 5 V - 1.8 W isolated flyback converter, developed for general purpose applications operating between 85 and 265 V AC .
The reference design revolves around the VIPer222XSTR offline high-voltage converter from the VIPerPlus family, using 730 V power MOSFETs and PWM current mode control.
The main features of the evaluation board are small size, lowest bill of materials cost, low standby power consumption, and tight line and load regulation throughout the input and output ranges. Very low power consumption in the no-load state is guaranteed because burst mode operation reduces the average switching frequency and minimizes all frequency-related losses.
The VIPer222XSTR operates at a fixed frequency of 30 kHz with frequency jitter to ensure compliance with standards regarding electromagnetic interference.
