Telescreen

Overview

Only a proof of concept has been completed so far.

An early version is expected to be released in late September.

Telescreen is a hardware backdoor device used to record screen content.

Installed between HDMI cable and computer HDMI interface.

Screenshots can be saved at scheduled intervals, or video streaming can be provided over Wi-Fi.

Telescreen's PCB is just a tiny computer running OpenWRT.

Some related programs were run, responsible for collecting UVC video streams.

It also needs to be matched with an HDMI capture card to convert HDMI signals into UVC signals.

The MS9332+MS2109 capture card is very suitable. You can currently buy the finished product on Taobao for about 40 yuan.

Why not draw the capture card directly on the Telescreen PCB?

It's because when I went to inquire about the price, I got a thousand pieces of MS2109, and the price quoted by the original manufacturer increased to more than 40 pieces.

It is said that it is because the cost of wafer fabs has skyrocketed. The price of the chip is already higher than that of existing capture cards...

(Of course it’s not because I’m afraid of poor resistance painting)
