Primary battery test

Overview
The positive electrode material of the battery produced in this project is high-density graphite (inactive), the negative electrode material is zinc (active) with a purity of ≥99.995%, and the electrolyte is saturated salt water. The primary battery can be considered the prototype of the battery, or the original battery. Today's batteries are all made based on the working principle of primary batteries. The conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy is achieved by controlling the directional transfer of electrons in redox reactions. Two metals (or graphite) with different reactivity are connected with wires and then inserted into the electrolyte solution. The generation of electric current is due to the oxidation reaction and the reduction reaction carried out on two electrodes respectively. Generally, in a primary battery, the more active metal is the negative electrode, and the less active metal is the positive electrode. The negative electrode itself loses electrons easily and undergoes an oxidation reaction. The electrons flow along the wire to the positive electrode. On the positive electrode, electrons are generally obtained from cations in the electrolyte solution and undergo a reduction reaction. In the primary battery, the external circuit is electronically conductive, and the electrolyte solution is ionically conductive. The reaction vessel is made of 50PVC pipe and assembled with PCB. The circuit is a Joule thief circuit without using diodes and energy storage capacitors! [IMG_20220426_174359.jpg] ![IMG_20220426_173525.jpg] ![ IMG_20220426_174104.jpg] ![IMG_20220426 _174111.jpg] !
