Currently, there are two versions of the five-port switch, MIAN_VT1.0 and MAIN_VT1.1
MAIN_VT1.0: (RJ45 with network transformer) (Recommend this one! The bill of materials is this version!!!)
MAIN_VT1.1: (Discrete components, RJ45 and network transformer are separated) This one is not recommended! ! ! The reason is that I use it alone to debug the network transformer for learning purposes, so I can use it but I don’t have time to make this BOM list~
Disadvantages: Buying more components is not as convenient as the MAIN_VT1.0 version.
The following are the experience and insights of debugging chips! ! ! The chip used is from Realtek. Model RTL8305NB-VB-CG (new) or RTL8305NB-CG (old) are actually the same chip, but the difference is the new version and the old version. The new framework has lower power consumption. The reference datasheet is marked with the RTL8305NB-CG chip model.
According to the datasheet, the chip has a built-in 1.0v LDO, so there is no need to buy an additional 1.0v LDO, so the cost is reduced.
The material selection is very casual, and I use whatever I have (in fact, I choose whatever materials the school has). I need to change the type or electrolytic capacitor myself. The heat generation is not very large, so it doesn’t matter whether the heat dissipation copper block is pressed or not.
As for the shell, I use whatever I have, and I just use eight copper pillars (I plan to customize acrylic to make the shell, and I am currently learning acrylic production).
In terms of cost, the switch chips are 6 pieces, 3.3vLDO is less than 2 pieces, and a 100M Ethernet interface is less than 2 pieces. The total cost should not exceed 20. Compared with the 5-port 100M switches on the market, it seems that there is really no advantage. Research can be done.
