This project is an improvement on lemon_wifi's cable testing open source project.

In this open source project, lemon_wifi is responsible for , so among the members of this open source project
, interface:
Left: TYPE-C 24P | TYPE-A 9P
Right: TYPE-B 9P | TYPE-C 24P | Lightning 10P | Micro 5P

Update log:
Release open source 2023/4/28
Updated picture is a photo of a clean PCB washed with board washing water, and a test picture is added 2023/6/14

Spell principle:
All contacts on the right interface output battery 3V voltage. When the data cable is connected, the right interface of the PCB is connected to the left interface. If there is a wire connected to the corresponding contact of the interface in the cable, the LED corresponding to this contact will light up, and the basic situation of the cable can be understood through the silk screen.

Example: After I use a TYPE-A TO TYPE-C data cable to connect, the PCB's VBUS GND D+ D- The LED light is on, and the access indicator light is on, which shows that this cable is a 2.0 cable, and the cable interface contacts and cable conductors are in normal contact and conduction.

Function introduction:
1. There are 25 LED lights of different colors
2. There are 24 full interface contact detection LEDs. If you plug in a Thunderbolt 4 cable, you can still detect it, so the title can even be named [Thunderbolt 4 Cable Tester] (Hey
3. Supports testing cables [C TO C] [A TO C] [C TO Apple] [A TO Apple] [C TO B] [A TO B] [A TO Mirco] [C TO Mirco]
4. This PCB has passed a severe drop test. Don't ask why... (It fell from the gap in the stairs on the third floor to the second floor and then rolled down the stairs from the second floor to the first floor. I hurriedly picked it up and tested it and found that it was still working normally)
5. It has an access LED light, which can determine whether the data cable is connected, and whether the metal casing of the interface at both ends of the data cable is connected.

Notes:
The resistors in the PCB are all 1K 0805, and the LED light package is 1206
The most difficult part to solder in the PCB is the TYPE-C 24P female socket on the left side of the PCB. It is okay to tin the interface on the right side.
The only two capacitors in the PCB can be soldered or not, because they have no use except for aesthetics. The capacitors I soldered are 20PF capacitors, just for aesthetics and have no effect~~!
To check the welding quality, you can use the beep mode of a multimeter to measure the adjacent pins, or you can use a cable with a known cable condition to test. If you find that the LED indicator lights up randomly when you start testing, it is very likely that the TYPE-C interface on the left side of the PCB has been tinned. Interface

The interface on the right side of the PCB has been connected with copper in the PCB diagram, so when soldering the interface here, you don’t have to worry about whether it is tinned or not, but for the sake of beauty, it is recommended to solder normally~

The capacitor here can be soldered or not, because it has no use except for aesthetics. The capacitor I soldered is a 20PF capacitor, which is just for beauty and has no effect~~!

The BOM table directly generated by Jiali Chuang may not be completely correct. It is best to slowly compare the component models and values marked on the schematic diagram and PCB.
The attachment also contains all the old pictures in this open source, which can be downloaded. The newly updated pictures can be viewed directly with the left mouse button and saved as with the right mouse button, so they are not uploaded as attachments.
