Multi-coil wireless charging reference design for automotive applications

NXP's 15W multi-coil transmitter reference platform is designed for automotive wireless charging applications based on the NXP MWCT1013AVLH transmitter controller IC. This controller IC manages and executes all the control functions required to implement a wireless charging transmitter solution. This solution provides a high-performance wireless charging system while also taking into account the complex operating environment of automobiles. The entire platform uses automotive-grade components and considers other important automotive functions to ensure seamless system integration. The design complies with the latest Qi specifications from the Wireless Power Consortium and is MP-A9 type transmitter certified. Features: Based on the WPC MP-A9 (NXP topology) 15W wireless charging platform; multi-coil free positioning with fixed frequency; integrated on-chip digital demodulation; supports power loss calculation based on quality factor (Q factor) variation and calibration; supports multiple types of RX modulation signals (AC capacitance, AC resistance, and DC resistance); supports low standby functionality and ignition control logic; complete NFC support for security (RFID tag protection), personalization, BT/Wi-Fi pairing, and authentication applications; supports other functions such as NFC, CAN, and touch sensing; overvoltage/overcurrent/overtemperature protection; software-based solution providing maximum design freedom and significant product features; power transfer efficiency exceeding 70%.
