The typical application circuit of LC189 integrated circuit is shown in Figure 2-128. The additional audio
control signal is coupled into
pin 8 of LC189 via C1 . Rl and C2 are external oscillating resistor-capacitor components of the integrated block. Row output terminals A~D and column output terminals A~M
are connected into a 4x4 dot matrix, and LEDl---16 are connected between row lines and column lines respectively. It can be seen from the waveform diagram in Figure 2-127: In the first state,
the luminescent tube on column i lights up; in the second state. The luminous tube on column f lights up; in the 3rd state, the luminous tube on column z
lights up ; in the 4th state, the luminous tube on the ore column lights up; in the 5th state, the luminous tube on row A lights up; in the 6th state In the state,
the luminous tubes on rows A and B are lit; in the 7th state, the luminous tubes on row ABC are lit; in the 8th state, all the light-emitting diodes
are lit, completing a cycle. Repeatedly, wonderful and endless visual effects are formed. The resistors R2~R9 are
the current limiting resistors of the light-emitting diodes. Changing their resistance values can change the brightness of the light-emitting diodes.
This circuit can also expand the number of luminous tubes from
16 to 28. Figure 2-129 provides a 4x7
dot matrix expansion connection method, so that the decorative effect is more
intense.
