Amid the general trend of vehicle electrification, the light electric vehicle (LEV) market segment is gradually emerging. According to relevant data, tens of millions of electric two-wheelers have been sold and used worldwide.

Light electric vehicles (LEVs) are low-power electric vehicles with a power range of 1,000W to 10,000W and a voltage range of 24V to 72V . Examples include electric scooters (stand-up, self-balancing, and foldable), electric bicycles, electric rickshaws, and other types of electric three-wheelers.

As light electric vehicles become increasingly popular in daily life, how to charge them quickly and efficiently has become a key issue. In this context, high-power chargers have emerged, bringing both efficiency and speed to the vehicle charging process.

In response to the market trend of light electric vehicles, Avnet has launched a 600W/2000W LEV charger solution , which can optimize the charging process, effectively reduce energy loss while providing faster charging speeds, thereby further improving overall efficiency.

In terms of circuit design, Avnet's LEV charger solution not only has constant output voltage and current control feedback functions, but also adopts an advanced isolated PFC+LLC topology to optimize the charging efficiency of 72V and 48V batteries and provide higher regulation capabilities.

The PFC controller uses Infineon's ICE3PCS01GX product , which is efficient, stable and reliable and can significantly improve the power factor and efficiency of the AC/DC converter.

For the LLC part, the ICE2HS01GX chip was selected , which has a built-in synchronous rectification driver, supports a switching frequency range of 30kHz to 1MHz, and has adjustable switching frequency and high-accuracy frequency setting.

It is worth mentioning that Avnet's 600W/2000W LEV charger solution is also equipped with a variety of analog components, such as precision operational amplifiers, adjustable shunt voltage references and operational amplifiers. These components play an important role in controlling output voltage and current, protecting circuits, etc., providing solid protection for electric vehicle charging safety.

In addition, this charger solution also has many excellent technical parameters:

  • Its input AC line frequency is 47Hz to 63Hz;

  • Under full load, its input A.THD (total harmonic distortion) is less than 3.5%, the power factor is greater than 0.97, and the power conversion efficiency can reach 92%, which greatly reduces energy loss and improves charging speed;

  • Furthermore, this solution also supports Iso/Non-Iso CAN, RS485 and other communication protocols, making it easier for users to conduct remote monitoring and management.

With its superior performance and ease of development, Avnet's 600W/2000W LEV charger solution offers manufacturers a best-of-both-worlds charging strategy. It not only meets fast charging requirements but also offers high stability, ensuring charging safety while extending battery life.

As a supporter of the electrification transformation, Avnet is continuously exporting advanced technologies and solutions to the industry. In the future, we hope to work with more partners to promote innovation in this field and help the electric market flourish.
