Closed-loop control and predictive maintenance: See how Avnet's motor solutions "intelligently control" the environment!

With the increasing demand for building automation and energy conservation, HVAC systems are evolving towards greater intelligence, efficiency, and reliability. The market not only requires systems with powerful motor drives to achieve precise heating and cooling, but also urgently needs to optimize operating strategies, reduce energy consumption, and achieve predictive maintenance through real-time environmental sensing.

This solution is based on the Renesas RL78/G14 microcontroller and integrates the HS300x relative humidity and temperature sensor, which can provide accurate environmental parameter monitoring and predictive maintenance functions to help improve the performance of HVAC systems.



The RL78/G14 microcontroller is a product developed by Renesas Electronics for motor control, industrial, and metering applications. It features advanced low-power characteristics (CPU: 66 μA/MHz, Standby (STOP): 240 nA) and high computing performance of 51.2 DMIPS (32MHz). The chip's integrated high-function timer supports three-phase complementary PWM output, easily driving three-phase motors. Simultaneously, the product is equipped with a rich set of peripherals including an on-chip oscillator, flash memory, A/D and D/A converters, comparators, etc., and features safety functions to monitor and prevent unauthorized operations, complying with IEC/UL 60730 safety standards for household appliances.


The HS300x relative humidity and temperature sensors include the HS3002, HS3003, and HS3004. These three products are high-precision, fully calibrated sensors with extremely short measurement response times. This series of sensors uses a small 6-LGA package and integrates calibration and temperature compensation logic, outputting fully calibrated relative humidity and temperature values, which can be transmitted via a standard I2C interface. Furthermore, the HS300x sensors feature extremely low power consumption, making them suitable for a variety of applications, maintaining stable operation and excellent performance even in harsh environments.



Thanks to its superior design, this solution supports closed-loop feedback of relative humidity/temperature in indoor and outdoor air circulation. This enables the system to continuously monitor environmental changes, make intelligent decisions, and adjust equipment operating status in real time, ensuring that the system always operates at low power consumption to reduce energy loss. Simultaneously, the integrated HS300x relative humidity and temperature sensors can monitor abnormal changes in environmental parameters in real time, such as excessive humidity potentially causing equipment damage, thus effectively preventing potential risks.
