Chip solution DC-DC chip TPS40170RGYR
Modular PCB
Input voltage: 10-30v (test 12V)
Output voltage: adjustable voltage (default setting 5v)
Output current: 4A (the inductor is limited to a maximum of 5A, large currents require sufficient heat dissipation)
Switching frequency: 300 kHz switching frequency
The TPS40170 is a full-featured synchronous PWM step-down controller that operates from input voltages between 4.5 V and 60 V and is optimized for high power density, high reliability DC/DC converter applications.
The controller implements voltage mode control through input voltage feedforward compensation, allowing immediate response to input voltage changes. The switching frequency is programmable from 100 kHz to 600 kHz.
The TPS40170 has a complete range of system protection and monitoring features, such as programmable UVLO, programmable overcurrent protection (OCP) for the sensing low-side FET, optional short-circuit protection (SCP) for the sensing high-side FET, and thermal shutdown.
The enable pin enables system shutdown in low current (1-8A typical) mode. The controller supports pre-biased outputs, provides open-drain power good signals, and supports closed-loop soft-start, output voltage tracking, and adaptive dead-time control.
The TPS40170 achieves accurate output regulation with 1% guaranteed error accuracy.
In addition, the controller also adopts the latest bidirectional synchronization scheme, providing a controller that can work as a master device and other downstream controllers that can work as slave devices, which can be synchronized in phase or 180° out of phase with the master device. The slave controller can be synchronized to an external clock within ±30% of the free-running switching frequency.
