Modular PCB
Input voltage: 4.5-17v
Output voltage: adjustable voltage (default setting 3.3v)
Output current: 3A (maximum 8A1V, large current requires sufficient heat dissipation)
Switching frequency: 200 kHz to 1.6 MHz switching frequency
Quiescent current 21ma
Load test output efficiency:
1A (90.2%), 2A (92.3%), 3A (91.9%)
The TPS54821RHLR is available in a thermally enhanced 3.5 mm x 3.5mm QFN package
is a full-featured 17 V, 8 A optimized synchronous buck converter integrating high-side and low-side MOSFETs in a highly efficient and compact design.
Further space savings are achieved through current mode control, which reduces component count, and by selecting high switching frequencies, the inductor footprint is reduced.
The output voltage is initiated by the SS/TR pin, which can be run as a standalone power supply or in a tracking state.
Power can also be sequenced by properly configuring the enable and open-drain power good pins.
High-side FET cycle-by-cycle current limiting protects the device during overload conditions, and low-side source current limiting is increased to prevent runaway current.
There is also a low-side sink current limit that turns off the low-side MOSFET to prevent excessive reverse current.
A protection condition will occur if the overcurrent lasts longer than the preset time.
Thermal Hiccup Protection disables the device when the chip temperature exceeds the thermal shutdown temperature and re-enables the part after the built-in thermal shutdown hiccup time.
